Discover the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Van Models: Sprinter and eSprinter Innovations

Mercedes-Benz continues to lead the way in the commercial van sector with the announcement of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter models for the North American market. These latest iterations bring enhanced versatility, cutting-edge technology, and improved safety features, reaffirming why Mercedes-Benz van models are the gold standard for businesses and professionals alike. The 2025 lineup introduces a new 81 kWh battery option for the eSprinter, alongside a suite of digital upgrades and advanced assistance systems for both the electric and conventionally powered Sprinter.

Expanding the eSprinter Range: New 81 kWh Battery Option

Responding directly to customer needs and diverse operational requirements, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter now offers a new 81-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery (usable capacity). This addition complements the existing 113 kWh battery, providing businesses with greater flexibility to choose a configuration that perfectly matches their specific needs for payload, range, and total cost of ownership.

The modular design of the eSprinter, mirroring its combustion engine counterpart, ensures exceptional practicality across various industries and applications. Whether it’s emission-free urban delivery or regional transport, the eSprinter adapts. The new 81 kWh battery option allows for different wheelbase and roof height combinations, broadening the appeal of these Mercedes-Benz van models to an even wider audience.

For businesses prioritizing maximum payload, the 144” wheelbase with a standard roof, paired with the 81 kWh battery, delivers a substantial cargo volume of up to 319 cubic feet and a payload capacity reaching 3,516 lbs. Alternatively, for operations requiring more cargo space, the longer 170” wheelbase with a high roof and the 81 kWh battery offers an impressive 488 cubic feet of volume and a payload of up to 3,120 lbs. – even exceeding the payload of the 113 kWh battery configuration by nearly 500 lbs in the same setup. All eSprinter models maintain a permissible gross vehicle weight of up to 9,370 lbs.

Iain Forsyth, Director of Product Management and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Vans USA, emphasizes this customer-centric approach: “Daily delivery vehicles generally follow a fixed predictable route that is usually under 150 miles – making the eSprinter the perfect solution for last-mile-deliveries. However, businesses have different needs when it comes to range, cargo volume and payload. It’s important to us to expand our product mix and provide options that tailor to their specific commercial purpose.”

The eSprinter’s permanent magnet synchronous motor stands out for its efficiency, available in 100 kW or 150 kW peak power outputs, and generating up to 295 ft.-lb of torque. The 81 kWh battery provides an electric range of up to 204 miles (329 kilometers) based on WLTP testing, making it ideal for urban delivery services. For extended range needs, the 113 kWh battery offers up to 297 miles (478 kilometers). Both battery options support AC and DC charging, with rapid DC charging up to 115 kW, allowing for a 10% to 80% charge in just over 30 minutes under optimal conditions.

Mercedes-Benz is also committed to enhancing the charging experience. Through the Mercedes me connect service Mercedes me Charge, eSprinter drivers gain access to a vast network of nearly 100,000 public charging points across the nation. Further expanding the charging infrastructure, Mercedes-Benz is developing its own Charging Network, aiming for a premium, reliable, and fast charging experience for all EV brands. Complementing this is the new Mercedes-Benz Wallbox, offering a convenient home charging solution. For fleet customers, the partnership with ChargePoint facilitates Fleet Depot Charging, providing tailored hardware, telematics, and software solutions.

The New Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Enhanced Intelligence and Safety

For nearly three decades, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been synonymous with the modern light commercial vehicle, setting the benchmark in the large van segment. Renowned for its adaptability, the Sprinter caters to diverse industry-specific needs, from cab chassis and powertrains to cargo and passenger van configurations, available with rear- or all-wheel drive and a maximum gross vehicle weight of up to 12,125 lbs. All 2025 Sprinter models are equipped with the smooth 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive available on select models.

This remarkable versatility makes Mercedes-Benz van models like the Sprinter the top choice for upfitters, with over 75% of commercial Sprinters undergoing industry-specific conversions. These range from delivery and courier vehicles to passenger buses, refrigerated vans, ambulances, construction vehicles, and camper vans.

The 2025 Sprinter elevates safety, comfort, and digital connectivity while retaining its hallmark flexibility. The optional MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system features a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a color instrument cluster display. Intuitive operation is ensured through touch control panels on the new multifunction steering wheel, equipped with capacitive sensors for hands-off detection. A convenient smartphone storage option with wireless charging is also available.

Latest Generation MBUX and Digital Features

Both the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter benefit from the latest generation of MBUX, boasting enhanced computing power and streamlined menu navigation on a 10.25-inch display. The intelligent voice assistant is now even more sophisticated, capable of responding to commands without the “Hey Mercedes” activation phrase in certain situations. Microphones in the optional overhead control panel identify the command origin, personalizing features like seat heating. “Hey Mercedes” can also explain vehicle functions and assist with tasks like Bluetooth® smartphone pairing. Wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now standard. Over-the-air (OTA) updates ensure software and feature enhancements are easily accessible.

A particularly useful MBUX feature is the rear space display, utilizing the rearview camera to project a hatched area on the central screen, indicating the space needed for opening the rear doors. This programmable distance feature enhances loading and unloading convenience by allowing drivers to assess clearance without exiting the vehicle. The camera image is also displayed when the rear doors are opened.

The MBUX system, in conjunction with the Mercedes me connect app, unlocks a range of digital extras, enhancing the intelligence and convenience of Sprinter and eSprinter Mercedes-Benz van models. Free services such as maintenance, accident, and breakdown management are included, along with remote services like door locking/unlocking via the Mercedes me connect app. New features include satellite view and improved navigation for trailers and oversized vehicles.

For fleets with diverse vehicle brands, Mercedes-Benz offers the flexibility to monitor all operations through a single interface using authorized telematics providers. The eSprinter’s MBUX integration extends to the electric vehicle ecosystem, offering intelligent navigation with active range management and cloud-based services, ensuring efficient route planning, charging strategy optimization, and pre-conditioning.

Enhanced Safety and Assistance Systems

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and eSprinter Mercedes-Benz van models feature upgraded safety and assistance systems, many now standard. Active Brake Assist now incorporates an intersection function, warning of crossing or oncoming traffic up to 37 mph, dangerous overtaking maneuvers up to 43 mph, and intervening in emergencies up to 25 mph. It also assists with turning if a collision is imminent and provides support at higher speeds.

New Sideguard Assist, paired with Blind Spot Assist, improves awareness of road users on the passenger side, providing visual and audible warnings when a vehicle is detected in the blind spot and the turn signal is activated. Moving-off Information Assist, a new optional feature, helps prevent collisions when starting, detecting road users up to 12 feet ahead and 19.6 inches beside the vehicle, issuing warnings up to 6 mph.

Active Lane Keeping Assist is enhanced with a new front camera, providing corrective steering intervention upon unintentional lane departure. The optional digital interior mirror offers an unobstructed rear view, even without a rear window, using an HDR camera to transmit a clear image to the rearview mirror, automatically adjusting brightness for optimal visibility.

New eSprinter-specific options further enhance functionality, safety, and efficiency for commercial applications, including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and a Parking Package with a 360-degree camera.

Andreas Zygan, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Development, summarizes the advancements: “With its versatility, a new generation of infotainment systems and enhanced safety- and assistance systems, the Sprinter continues to be the perfect overall system solution for a wide range of commercial transport and mobility requirements. Meanwhile, the new eSprinter impresses with its efficiency, range and load volume. In doing so, it also underscores the Group’s claim to leadership in electric mobility in the commercially oriented segment.”

Upgraded Equipment and Availability

Mercedes-Benz USA has significantly enhanced the standard equipment for the new Sprinter and eSprinter Mercedes-Benz van models and refined equipment package options to better align with customer preferences. Frequently combined features are now bundled into packages like the Winter Package PLUS and the Drive Assist Package.

Standard features now include a multifunction steering wheel with capacitive sensors, tire pressure monitoring (front/rear) for dual rear wheel models, rain sensor, entry handles on front doors, and passive child detection in crew/passenger models. Sprinter passenger models offer a SELECT line upgrade with a leather steering wheel, driver comfort seat, comfort overhead control unit, and LED high-performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, starting at $50,830, and the 2025 eSprinter, starting at $61,180, are available for order now at U.S. dealerships and will arrive in the second half of 2024.
