The 2024 season presented a mixed bag for Mercedes. 2023
2023 was a challenging year for Mercedes, marking the first time since 2011 that the team did not win a single Grand Prix. The W14 car proved to be only marginally better than its predecessor, struggling to compete at the front. However, the team’s relentless development efforts throughout the season paid off. Mercedes managed to overtake Ferrari in the constructors’ championship at the final race, securing second place in the standings.
2022
Significant rule changes in Formula 1 for the 2022 season dramatically reshaped the competitive landscape. In the 2020 season, Mercedes and their star driver Lewis Hamilton reached new heights of performance. Hamilton was particularly dominant, winning an impressive 11 races and breaking numerous records on his way to securing his seventh drivers’ world championship, equalling Michael Schumacher’s record. This achievement was even more remarkable considering Hamilton missed a race due to contracting Covid-19. Valtteri Bottas, the second Mercedes driver, also contributed to the team’s success with two wins, resulting in another dominant double championship victory for the Silver Arrows.
