The Mercedes-Benz Gebrauchtteile Center (GTC) stands as Daimler AG’s dedicated recycling and used parts division. For over 15 years, this organization, initially founded as the Altfahrzeug- und Altteilecenter (ATC) in February 1996, has been crucial in Daimler AG’s commitment to fulfilling the EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive. Annually, thousands of Mercedes-Benz vehicles are expertly dismantled at the center, ensuring valuable parts are repurposed and remaining materials are responsibly recycled.
Five years after the ATC’s inception, a significant partnership was formed with TruckStore in Köngen, focusing on used commercial vehicle parts. In 2004, the company relocated to Neuhausen auf den Fildern, marking a new chapter in January 2005 with its rebranding to Mercedes-Benz Gebrauchtteile Center GmbH. This transition also saw the GTC taking full responsibility for the used commercial vehicle parts business, further solidifying its role in the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem.
The EU End-of-Life Vehicles Directive mandates that vehicle manufacturers must accept end-of-life vehicles free of charge and ensure their environmentally sound disposal. The Mercedes-Benz Gebrauchtteile Center, along with a network of collection points across Germany, enables Daimler AG to effectively meet these obligations, promoting sustainable practices within the automotive industry.
Giving Mercedes-Benz Parts a Second Life
Every day, the Gebrauchtteile Center dismantles between 8 and 15 passenger cars and vans up to 3.5 tons. Components identified for reuse, including body panels, engines, transmissions, axles, wheels, tires, interior elements, and audio systems, undergo rigorous inspection. Upon passing these stringent quality checks, these used parts are carefully inventoried and made available for resale, offering a cost-effective and environmentally conscious alternative to new parts. The remaining vehicle chassis are processed in a car body press after environmentally sound dismantling. All other materials are managed through eco-friendly disposal methods, prioritizing material recycling wherever possible. Non-recyclable residues are disposed of in full compliance with environmental regulations.
Access to Approximately 250,000 Used Mercedes-Benz Parts
The Mercedes-Benz Gebrauchtteile Center boasts an impressive inventory of around 250,000 parts. Prior to dismantling, each vehicle undergoes thorough evaluation. Parts are categorized into quality classes based on their condition. Following expert removal and a further quality inspection, these used parts are offered for sale with a twelve-month Europe-wide warranty, assuring customers of their reliability. Finding the required part is streamlined through a vehicle part or model search system. Additionally, the Gebrauchtteile Center provides access to accessories, AMG parts, wheels & tires, and items from the previous year’s Mercedes-Benz Collection, catering to a wide range of customer needs.
The Mercedes-Benz Gebrauchtteile Center welcomes visitors directly at its location during opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
