Remembering Christine Ponthieux: A Pillar of Benz Model & Talent Agency in Tampa, FL

A poignant memorial service honored Christine Ponthieux, the long-serving office manager of Tampa’s esteemed Benz Model & Talent Agency, following her tragic passing last month. The service, held on Wednesday evening, served as a loving tribute after her death by suicide within the agency owner’s private office on April 25th. This followed a reported letter expressing her grievances sent to some of the agency’s clientele.

Tampa Police Department responded to the Benz Model & Talent Agency offices on that April day, discovering Christine Ponthieux deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside agency owner Steve Benz’s office. The office door was locked from the inside, requiring forced entry. Steve Benz was not present at the time of the incident, nor did he attend the subsequent memorial service.

The celebration of Christine’s life took place at the Wedding Retreat in Plant City, FL, offering a rustic and fitting backdrop. Her three daughters delivered heartfelt eulogies in a setting complete with country music and the sounds of horses, under the soft glow of string lights adorning a barn. An attendee described the atmosphere as “really beautiful” and a “perfect tribute” to Christine, emphasizing her country spirit and the deep affection held for her by those present. Around fifty close friends and family members attended, including colleagues from Benz Model & Talent Agency and approximately a dozen of the agency’s actor-clients. While sharing cherished memories of Christine, attendees also grappled with unanswered questions surrounding her death.

Authorities have indicated no signs of foul play, though the Tampa Police Department has stated that the “case is still open,” and have not released a police report.

A message on the Benz Model & Talent Agency website publicly acknowledged Christine’s significant contribution: “Christine worked for us for close to 20 years and will be greatly missed. She was an integral part of our success. There are so many things we will miss about her and will cherish all of the memories. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends. May she rest in peace.” Christine Ponthieux would have turned 51 this October.
