The Mercedes Benz Evo II, a legendary icon in automotive history, continues to captivate enthusiasts worldwide. As a diecast aficionado, I was thrilled to add the Inno64 rendition of this masterpiece to my collection. Initially, I reviewed the Inno64 Mercedes-Benz Evo II and while impressed, I felt something was missing in my collection until I acquired the street black version. From the moment I unboxed it, I knew exactly how to make it truly mine: a wheel swap with Inno64’s own OZ-style wheels.
The stock version of the Inno64 Mercedes Benz Evo II is undeniably striking. The six-branch wheels it comes with are a good match, maintaining a classic aesthetic. However, side-by-side with my Error404 model, which also sports similar six-branch rims in a photo-etched style, the desire for customization sparked. While the Error404, a resin model at twice the price of an Inno64 diecast, offers a premium feel, Inno64 consistently delivers exceptional quality for under $20. Despite the higher price point, even the Error404 model isn’t without its quirks, appearing to sit a bit too high in the rear for my taste.
The allure of the OZ-style wheels proved too strong to resist. The wheel swap itself, as is often the case with diecast models, presented a minor challenge. The front screw stubbornly refused to budge, adding a layer of delicate maneuvering to the process. Carefully removing the original wheels by hand, mindful of the intricate details of the Mercedes Benz Evo II, I proceeded with the swap. After a patient half-hour, the OZ wheels were finally in place.

The result of the wheel swap is, in my opinion, transformative. The OZ-style wheels perfectly complement the aggressive stance and iconic design of the Mercedes Benz Evo II. It elevates the Inno64 model from an already impressive piece to a truly standout collectible. Gazing at the finished product, any minor frustrations during the wheel swap process are instantly forgotten.

Currently owning four versions of the Mercedes Benz Evolution II, I am always eager for more iterations to emerge. The Inno64 Mercedes Benz Evo II, especially with this simple yet effective wheel modification, stands as a testament to the brand’s commitment to detail and the enduring appeal of the Mercedes Benz Evo lineage.
