Mercedes-Benz Stadium Clear Bag Policy for Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and FanFest

To enhance security measures at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a strict bag policy will be enforced during the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and FanFest events. This policy regulates the size and type of bags that are permitted inside the stadium.

Permitted Bags:

Only the following types of bags will be allowed into Mercedes-Benz Stadium:

  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags not exceeding 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches.
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags such as Ziploc bags or similar.
  • Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches. This size is approximately the size of a hand and similar in size to a small Mercedes Benz Purse.

Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after inspection at designated gates. Fans can still bring permissible items like binoculars and cameras into the stadium if they are carried in an approved clear bag.

Binbox lockers are available for rent outside Gate 1 (Northside Drive sidewalk, near The Home Depot Backyard). Guests can download the Binbox app to rent a locker and securely store their belongings for a fee ranging from $5 to $9. Items must be picked up from the lockers on the same day of the event.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Clear Bag Policy

  • Are bag restrictions common at other events? Yes, clear bag policies are increasingly common. The NFL has a clear bag policy, and it is also standard practice for all SEC and many other Power 5 college programs.

  • How does this clear bag policy improve stadium security? Clear bags are easily searchable, which significantly speeds up the security screening process and reduces the chance of faulty bag searches. This policy also aligns with the Department of Homeland Security’s “If You See Something, Say Something” public safety campaign, as it enhances overall visibility and security awareness.

  • Do I need to put everything I am carrying into a clear bag? No. The policy restricts only the type of bags you can bring into the stadium, not the items you can carry. You can still bring items that fit comfortably in your pockets or a small clutch bag (like keys, makeup, feminine hygiene products, combs, phones, wallets, and credit cards). Fans may carry blankets over their arms, and binoculars or cameras around their necks or in their hands without cases. You can also use your clear bag or small clutch to carry these and other permissible items. Each member of your party is allowed to bring in a permissible bag.

  • What about diaper bags for infants? Diapers and other non-medically necessary items for babies and young children must be carried in a clear bag. Each family member, including children, is permitted to bring one approved clear bag and a small clutch-style bag into the stadium.

  • How many bags can each person bring into Mercedes-Benz Stadium? Each person is allowed to bring one large clear bag (either a one-gallon Ziploc-style bag or a 12″ x 6″ x 12″ clear bag) plus one small clutch bag that is no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″. The small clutch provides a degree of privacy for personal items and is also easily searchable by security personnel.

  • Can I bring cameras, binoculars, smartphones, or tablets separately, without putting them in a clear bag? Yes. You can carry phones, binoculars, and cameras into the stadium as long as they are not stored in their own bags.

  • What if I need to bring medically necessary items that won’t fit in a clear bag? Designated entrances will be available for screening bags containing medically necessary items that do not meet the clear bag policy requirements.

  • Will this policy affect tailgating activities? Are there restrictions on tailgating items? No. Fans are welcome to enjoy tailgating in the parking lots. This policy is designed to enhance safety inside the stadium, ensuring a more secure environment from the point of entry.

  • Does this bag policy apply to credentialed individuals like media and staff? Yes, credentialed individuals are also subject to the clear bag policy. However, exceptions may be made for credentialed personnel carrying bags that do not meet the guidelines, provided those bags are thoroughly inspected and pass security screening before entry is permitted.
