My ordeal began with a simple desire to enhance my vehicle with Renntech upgrades, trusting what was advertised as an authorized dealer in Burlington, MA. Excited to improve my Mercedes, I proceeded with the service, unaware of the frustrating months that lay ahead.
Two months passed with minimal communication. Each follow-up was met with vague excuses about parts being out of stock. Confused, I contacted Renntech directly in Miami, only to receive conflicting information. After numerous calls, finally reaching the parts manager at the Burlington dealership, the truth emerged. The Renntech exhausts were made to order, requiring the dealership to send my OEM exhausts back to Renntech to transfer the valve actuators. It took two months of my persistent efforts to get both the service and parts departments within the same dealership on the same page – a concerning lack of internal communication.
Then came the second issue. After the parts finally arrived and were installed, I received a call informing me that the exhaust was damaged – dented. Questioning why this wasn’t noticed before installation, I was met with a shrug and a question: “What would you like us to do?” Paying a premium for a high-quality product and installation, I expected perfection, not damage. Furthermore, the installation itself was subpar, with the tailpipe ends misaligned on one side. By this point, three months had elapsed, marked by multiple trips back and forth to the dealership. To compensate for the mounting issues and delays, they offered me a detail. Considering the dealership was a 45-minute drive away, this felt like the bare minimum.
Upon picking up my car after the detail, I discovered new problems. The detail job had introduced clear coat burn in several areas. Worse, the detailers had failed to properly tape the chrome on the trunk, resulting in buffer scratches and swirl marks across the chrome finish. Another call, another trip back for service, mentioning the new damage. The parts manager then needed to order two rear rims. Four days later, the wrong rims arrived. My car was stuck in the shop for eight days. While I appreciate a loaner, even an E-Class, it’s not the same as having my S-Class AMG Mercedes.
